Testimony and Spiritual
Journey of Phil Moser
By Phil Moser
[Note: With minor
changes, this testimony was
originally published at
Ananias.org and is used with
permission.]
Dear friend,
If you are committed
to the cause of Christian
Science and earnestly
believe what it teaches and that
no one could ever shake your
faith regarding its veracity; if
you can honestly say, “I am not
concerned in the least with my
eternal destiny and I know
beyond a shadow of a doubt that
Christian Science is God’s
revelation to Mary Baker Eddy
and is totally true,” then read
no further; throw this away. If
you do, I can say with
confidence that you will always
remember in all eternity
that you were warned and that
you, by your own free will,
refused to even weigh the
evidence.
If you are an honest seeker of
truth, then read on. Weigh the
evidence and then decide if
what I say is baloney.
Testimony and Spiritual Journey
God has laid it upon my heart
to put down in writing certain
aspects of my life and my
spiritual journey and my growth
as a man and as a Christian. I
would like to tell you briefly
about my childhood, the events
and revelations which brought me
to this point in my spiritual
journey, a journey we each must
travel.
It is my greatest desire that
you read this in its entirety. I don’t pretend to have a full
understanding of God or the
Scriptures, but I do hope you
will judge based on the facts
and not emotions. I will share
these biblical facts and
contrast them with what
Christian Science states as
truth. These facts do not allow
for any wiggle room. They are
black and white. You can either
accept them or deny them; the
choice is yours.
First, let me say that as you
read this, know that my heart of
full of love and not
condemnation. I am asking that
you read this with an open mind
and consider what God has put on
my heart to share with you. I
hope we can agree that if you
are totally convinced that what
you believe is true, then you
won’t be threatened by anything
I write. It is not meant in any
way to be malicious, divisive,
or threatening. I am sharing
this with you because I love all
Christian Scientists.
My Childhood
Being Raised as a
Christian Scientist
I was born and raised as a
fourth generation Christian
Scientist. My mother, also
raised a Christian Scientist,
shared Christian Science with my
dad before I was born. I
was blessed to be raised in a
loving home by two very loving
and supportive parents. My
brothers and I never wanted for
or lacked anything. Our parents
were always there for us and
made us feel loved.
Our dad took an active role as
the spiritual leader of the
home. He was a very
intelligent man and a man of
integrity, who possessed a great
sense of humor. I admired him
greatly for his generosity, hard
work and his pursuit of
godliness.
My mother likewise shares these
qualities and has always been a
great comfort, a tender loving
soul, and has a heart of gold.
Growing up, almost every day was
begun with the reading of the
Christian Science Lesson Sermon.
I am very grateful that my
parents raised us to love the
Bible, to learn and obey the Ten
Commandments and Beatitudes, to
strive to be Christlike in
everything we did, and to
express the fruits of the
Spirit. My brothers and I were
taught to put God first, to love
Him and to rely on Him for every
need. We were shown by example
the enjoyment of reading and
memorizing Bible passages from
the earliest stages of our
lives. This disciplined routine
of study and regular church
attendance instilled in me a
desire to make God first and the
reading of His Word. The Bible
and Science and Health were
indispensable parts of my life.
I loved my local church, The
Mother Church in Boston, MA, and
Principia College from which I
graduated in 1977. I
love all Christian Scientists. I
have many fond memories of my
friends and family for which I
will always be grateful.
My Adult Life as
a Christian Scientist
Roxie, my beautiful wife of 30
years, and I have a great
marriage although it has been
severely tested at times.
Perhaps greatest of these
challenges was that we were
unequally yoked spiritually.
She also was raised in a God
fearing Christian home, but of
another faith. Roxie and I were
at odds about key theological
questions for a number of years.
We had many lively discussions
regarding several issues.
I was always steadfast in my
thinking, relying totally on
what I believed to be the facts
based upon years of a deep study
of Christian Science. I was
totally devoted to “the cause of
Christian Science.” As an
active member of the Amarillo
Church and First Church of
Christ, Scientist, the
Woodlands, I served in several
capacities, on the church board
and more importantly, three (two
year) terms as First Reader.
As the First Reader, I studied
and prayed for inspiration to
develop a separate Wednesday
evening lesson based upon the
Bible and correlative passages
from Science and Health. This
would take hours of
preparation. I can appreciate
the time and effort of those
individuals who have served in
this capacity. My reason for
bringing this up is not to brag
or boast about my
accomplishments, but rather to
illustrate that I am well
grounded in my understanding of
Christian Science. That fact
alone gives me the right to
comment on its validity.
I admire devoted Christian
Scientists. I find they are
intelligent, knowledgeable and
genuine people who strive in
earnest to rely on God and make
Him first in their lives.
I love the Christian Science
hymnal, and the music still
inspires and moves me to tears.
I still to this day love to sing
the hymns with our piano playing
youngest son. That is why
leaving Christian Science was so
hard for me.
My Decision for
Christ
The road which has led me to
challenge the very core of my
beliefs was not a quick or easy
one. For years I was totally
convinced that what Christian
Science taught was the gospel
truth by revelation. Love and
respect for my parents and
brothers, and the knowledge that
they were genuinely dedicated
followers of Mrs. Eddy, made my
heart and emotions even more
conflicted when I began to come
to grips with the key core
issues concerning what it means
to be a true Christian.
What I loved about Christian
Science was that it is so
logical. It is so reasonable, so
plausible and so sensible. It
makes perfect sense to start
with the fact that God is good,
that He is Love, that He is
omnipotent, omnipresent,
omniscient and that He created
all in and of Himself, and to
argue from there
that evil is
unreal. It makes perfect sense
that a good God could not create
man capable of sin and then
punish him for what he could not
help doing. Christian Science was, therefore,
very believable.
I set out for myself to prove
Christian Science right and
mainstream Christianity wrong. I
began with a study of the deity
of Jesus. I poured myself into
this study, and the more I did
the more it became apparent that
I could not defend Christian
Science, which was repeatedly at
odds with the Scriptures.
Selectively chosen passages
which support the cause of
Christian Science are routinely
included in the Bible Lesson
Sermon but don’t, I have
concluded, result in sound
biblical doctrine.
The biggest problem is that, to
accept Christian Science, one
has to ignore what Jesus
repeatedly said about the reality
of hell and a
coming judgment day!
One must abandon large portions
of God’s holy Word and either
make a liar of Jesus Christ or
simply claim that the Scriptures
were written down incorrectly
and cloud the truth. The
Scriptures are very clear, and
if you believe what they say, as
I now do, you will realize that
we cannot save ourselves
by understanding,
by spiritual progress, or by
demonstrating the works that
Jesus did. We can agree it
is a good thing to follow Jesus’
example, but we must also be
obedient to His requirements for
eternal salvation.
It has been said, and rightly
so, “the Bible is the infallible
Word of God.” As I studied and
pondered the Bible, I began to
understand its true meaning. It
was as if scales fell off my
eyes. My understanding of the
Truth gained from
Christian Science was not, in
fact, consistent with what Jesus
said repeatedly concerning sin,
death, judgment, heaven and
hell, and the plan of salvation.
I now understand that the entire
Bible is a picture of Jesus
Christ or in some way points to
His redemption of sinners, and
of His saving grace. Jesus’
primary purpose was not to be a
great teacher and show us how we
can follow His example. His
primary mission was to call
sinners to repentance and
provide salvation through, and
only through, His blood shed for
us, to do for us what we could
never hope to do for ourselves.
That is why He is referred to as
our “Blessed Hope.”
I would love to discuss several
areas of my study, but I will
limit my comments to what I
perceive as the most important
points. These concern the
most important issue we will
ever face, our salvation
and eternal destiny. I believe,
as I’m sure you do, that life is
eternal. The most important
question of all time is: Who am
I and where will I find myself
after this human existence?
I will consider the following
key points:
-
We are all sinners.
-
There is going to be a
judgment day.
-
There is a heaven and a
hell.
-
We need salvation. There
is only one way to escape the
penalty due for our
sin.
-
God poured out His wrath
on His Son.
-
Jesus is God incarnate.
-
Jesus actually died on the
cross.
-
There are false gospels
and false teachers.
I will show what Christian
Science says about each of the
five points and also show what
Scripture says. Consider with me
the first point.
1. We are all sinners
Christian Science
“XXXI.Since God is all; there is
no room for His unlikeness. God,
Spirit, alone created all, and
called it good. Therefore evil,
being contrary to good, is
unreal, and cannot be the
product of God. A sinner can
receive no encouragement from
the fact that Science
demonstrates the unreality of
evil, for the sinner would make
a reality of sin, —would make
that real which is unreal, and
thus heap up ‘wrath against the
day of wrath.’" (Science and
Health, 339:7)
It’s interesting that Mrs. Eddy would
use the term “day of wrath” when
she teaches there won’t be one.
“Answer.—All reality is in God
and His creation, harmonious and
eternal. That which He creates
is good, and He makes all that
is made. Therefore the only
reality of sin, sickness, or
death is the awful fact that
unrealities seem real to human,
erring belief, until God strips
off their disguise.” (Science
and Heath, 472:24)
The Bible
Isaiah 64:
6 But we are all as an unclean
thing, and all our
righteousness’s are as filthy
rags;
Romans 3:23
For all have sinned, and come
short of the glory of God;
1 John 1:8
If we say that we have no sin,
we deceive ourselves, and the
truth is not in us.
1 John 1:10
If we say that we have not
sinned, we make him a liar, and
his word is not in us.
Christian Science
encourages us to cling to the
fact that God is Love, which God
is, but insists we reject the
fact that we are all sinners and
that
our sins will be judged.
2. There is a coming judgment
day!
Christian
Science
“No final judgment awaits
mortals, for the judgment day of
wisdom comes hourly and
continually, even the judgment
by which mortal man is divested
of all material error.” (Science
and Health 291:28-31)
“As a man falleth asleep, so
shall he awake. As death findeth
mortal man, so shall he be after
death, until probation and
growth shall effect the needed
change.” (Science and Health
291:22-25)
“When the last mortal fault is
destroyed, then the final trump
will sound which will end the
battle of Truth with error and
mortality." (Science and Health
292:1-3)
The Bible
Malachi 4:1
“For behold, the day is coming,
burning like an oven, and all
the proud, yes, all who do
wickedly will be stubble. And
the day which is coming shall
burn them up," Says the LORD of
hosts,
Hebrews 9: 27
it is appointed unto men once to
die, but after this the
judgment:
Matthew 12:36 But
I say unto you, that every idle
word that men shall speak, they
shall give account thereof in
the day
of judgment. (Jesus)
Mark 16:16 He who
believes and is baptized will be
saved; but he who does not
believe will be condemned.
(Jesus)
John 12:48
He that rejecteth me, and
receiveth not my words, hath one
that judgeth him: the word that
I have spoken, the same shall
judge him in the last day.
(Jesus)
Romans 14:10-12 …For we shall all stand before
the judgment seat of Christ. For
it is written, “As I live, saith
the Lord, every knee shall bow
to me, and every tongue shall
confess to God. So then every
one of us shall give account of
himself to God.”
Romans 3:20
Therefore by the deeds of the
law there shall no flesh be
justified in his sight: for by
the law is the knowledge of sin.
Revelation 14:13
Blessed are the dead which die
in the Lord from henceforth:
Yea, saith the Spirit, that they
may rest from their labours; and
their works do follow them.
Revelation 20:11-15
And I saw a great white throne,
and him that sat on it, from
whose face the earth and the
heaven fled away; and there was
found no place for them. And I
saw the dead, small and great,
stand before God; and the books
were opened: and another book
was opened, which is the book of
life: and the dead were judged
out of those things which were
written in the books, according
to their works.
And the sea gave up the dead
which were in it; and death and
hell delivered up the dead which
were in them: and they were
judged every man according to
their works.
And death and hell were cast
into the lake of fire. This is
the second death. And whosoever
was not found written in the
book of life was cast into the
lake of fire.
Matthew 21:42-44 And whosoever shall fall on this
stone shall be broken: but on
whomsoever it shall fall, it
will grind him to powder.
God is just; our sin will be
punished and we all will appear
at one of two judgments, the
judgment seat of the Lamb
(reserved for all those who
confess Jesus Christ as Lord and
Savior and whose names are
written in the Lamb’s book of
Life) or the Great White Throne
judgment (reserved for those
who reject and do not confess
with their mouths and believe in
their hearts that Jesus is Lord
and Savior and died to
pay our sin debt. Those who
reject this will have their
place in the lake of fire for
eternity). Jesus is the
cornerstone; we must fall down
and be broken on Him and receive
His amazing grace, or when
judgment falls the Cornerstone “will
grind him to powder.”
3. There is a heaven and a hell
Christian Science:
Heaven and hell are states of
consciousness – not places.
"Heaven is not a locality, but a
divine state of Mind in which
all the manifestations of Mind
are harmonious and immortal. . .
." (Science and Health,
291:13-16)
"HEAVEN. Harmony; the reign of
Spirit; government by the divine
Principle; spirituality; bliss;
the atmosphere of Soul."
(Science and Health, 587:25-27)
"To reach heaven, the harmony of
being, we must understand the
divine Principle of being."
(Science and Health, 6:14-16)
"HELL. Mortal belief; error;
lust; remorse; hatred; revenge;
sin; sickness; death; suffering
and self-destruction;
self-imposed agony; effects of
sin; that which "worketh
abomination or maketh a lie."
(Science and Health, 588:1-4)
"The sinner makes his own hell
by doing evil, and the saint his
own heaven by doing right."
(Science and Health, 266:20-21)
"The evil beliefs which
originate in mortals are hell."
(Science and Health, 266:26-27)
The Bible:
Heaven and hell are actual
places. Heaven is the place
where God lives and where
believers in Jesus will live
with Him throughout eternity.
Hell is a place of torment,
created for Satan and his fallen
angels because of their
rebellion against God.
Mark 16:19
So then after the Lord had
spoken unto them, he was
received up into heaven, and sat
on the right hand of God.
Luke 10:20
Notwithstanding in this rejoice
not, that the spirits are
subject unto you; but rather
rejoice, because your names are
written in heaven.
Matthew 18:10-11
Take heed that ye despise not
one of these little ones; for I
say unto you, That in heaven
their angels do always behold
the face of my Father which is
in heaven. For the Son of man is
come to save that which was
lost.
John 14:2-4,6
In my Father's house are many
mansions: if it were not so, I
would have told you. I go to
prepare a place for you. And if
I go and prepare a place for
you, I will come again, and
receive you unto myself; that
where I am, there ye may be
also. And whither I go ye know,
and the way ye know. . . . Jesus
saith unto him, I am the way,
the truth, and the life: no man
cometh unto the Father, but by
me."
2
Thessalonians 1:7 And to you who are
troubled rest with us, when the
Lord Jesus shall be revealed
from heaven with his mighty
angels,"
Matthew 16:17-18
And Jesus answered and said unto
him, Blessed art thou, Simon
Barjona: for flesh and blood
hath not revealed it unto thee,
but my Father which is in
heaven. And I say also unto
thee, That thou art Peter, and
upon this rock I will build my
church; and the gates of hell
shall not prevail against it."
Matthew 25:41,46
Then shall he say also unto them
on the left hand, Depart from
me, ye cursed, into everlasting
fire, prepared for the devil and
his angels: . . . And these
shall go away into everlasting
punishment: but the righteous
into life eternal.
2
Peter 2:4,9
For if God spared not the angels
that sinned, but cast them down
to hell, and delivered them into
chains of darkness, to be
reserved unto judgment; . . .
The Lord knoweth how to deliver
the godly out of temptations,
and to reserve the unjust unto
the day of judgment to be
punished:
Revelation 20:10,15
And the devil that deceived them
was cast into the lake of fire
and brimstone, where the beast
and the false prophet are, and
shall be tormented day and night
for ever and ever. . . . And
whosoever was not found written
in the book of life was cast
into the lake of fire.
4. WE NEED GOD’S PLAN OF
SALVATION!
Christian Science
“His consummate
example was for the salvation of
us all, but only through
doing the works which he did
and taught others to do.”
(Science and Health, 51:19-21,
emphasis added)
“Universal salvation rests on
progression and probation, and
is unattainable without them.”
(Science and Health, 291:12)
“SALVATION.Life, Truth, and Love
understood and demonstrated as
supreme over all; sin, sickness,
and death destroyed.” (Science
and Health, 593:20)
"The material blood of Jesus was
no more efficacious to cleanse
from sin when it was shed upon
'the accursed tree,' than when
it was flowing in his veins as
he went daily about his Father's
business."
(Science and Health,
25:6-8)
“One sacrifice, however great,
is insufficient to pay the debt
of sin. The atonement requires
constant self-immolation on the
sinner's part.” (Science and
Health,
23:3-7)
“Final deliverance from error,
whereby we rejoice in
immortality, boundless freedom,
and sinless sense, is not
reached through paths of flowers
nor by pinning one's faith
without works to another's
vicarious effort.” (Science and
Health, 22:23-27)
The Bible
Ephesians 2:8-9
For by grace are ye saved
through faith; and that not of
yourselves: it is the gift of
God: Not of works, lest any man
should boast.
Through the sacrificial blood of
the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ.
Hebrews 9:22
without shedding of blood is no
remission
Galatians 3:24 Wherefore
the law was our schoolmaster to
bring us unto Christ, that we
might be justified by faith.
Galatians
3:13
Christ hath redeemed us from the
curse of the law, being made a
curse for us: for it is written,
Cursed is every one that hangeth
on a tree:
1Timothy 2:5-6
For there is one God , and one
mediator between God and men,
the man Christ Jesus; Who gave
himself a ransom for all, to be
testified in due time.
5. As part of the Plan of
Salvation, God poured out his
wrath on His Son
Christian Science
“That God's wrath should be
vented upon His beloved Son, is
divinely unnatural. Such a
theory is man-made." (Science
and Health, 23:5-7)
“Whosoever believeth that wrath
is righteous or that divinity is
appeased by human suffering,
does not understand God.”
(Science and Health, 22:27-29)
The
Bible
Luke 24:26 Ought
not Christ to have suffered
these things, and to enter into
his glory?
Luke 24: 46
And said unto them, Thus it is
written, and thus it behooved
Christ to suffer, and to
rise from the dead the third
day:
Acts 17:2-3
Then Paul, as his custom was,
went in to them, and for three
Sabbaths reasoned with them from
the Scriptures, explaining and
demonstrating that the Christ
had to suffer and rise again
from the dead, and saying, "This
Jesus whom I preach to you is
the Christ."
Acts 26:22-23
(Paul speaking): I continue unto
this day, witnessing both to
small and great, saying none
other things than those which
the prophets and Moses did say
should come: That Christ
should suffer, and that he
should be the first that should
rise from the dead, and should
shew light unto the people, and
to the Gentiles.
Colossians 1:19 For
it pleased the Father
that in Him all the fullness
should dwell, and by Him to
reconcile all things to Himself,
by Him, whether things on earth
or things in heaven, having
made peace through the blood of
His cross.
Acts 3:18
But those things which God
foretold by the mouth of all His
prophets, that the Christ would
suffer, He has thus fulfilled. (Refers
to Genesis 22:1 and Genesis
50: 15)
Genesis
22
is a picture of God’s sacrifice
of His Son on mount Moriah, as a
sin offering, as the future
perfect Lamb of God:
Genesis: 22:1-9
And it came to pass after these
things, that God did tempt
Abraham, and said unto him,
Abraham: and he said, Behold,
here I am.
And he said, Take now thy son,
thine only son Isaac, whom thou
lovest, and get thee into the
land of Moriah; and offer him
there for a burnt offering upon
one of the mountains which I
will tell thee of. And Abraham
rose up early in the morning,
and saddled his ass, and took
two of his young men with him,
and Isaac his son, and clave the
wood for the burnt offering, and
rose up, and went unto the place
of which God had told him. Then
on the third day Abraham lifted
up his eyes, and saw the place
afar off. And Abraham said unto
his young men, Abide ye here
with the ass; and I and the lad
will go yonder and worship, and
come again to you. And Abraham
took the wood of the burnt
offering, and laid it upon Isaac
his son; and he took the fire in
his hand, and a knife; and they
went both of them together. And
Isaac spake unto Abraham his
father, and said, My father: and
he said, Here am I, my son. And
he said, Behold the fire and the
wood: but where is the lamb for
a burnt offering?
And Abraham said, My son, God
will provide himself a lamb for
a burnt offering: so they went
both of them together. And they
came to the place which God had
told him of; and Abraham built
an altar there, and laid the
wood in order, and bound Isaac
his son, and laid him on the
altar upon the wood.
In Genesis 50, Joseph is
a picture of Jesus and his
future sacrifice:
Genesis 50:15-20
And when Joseph's brethren saw
that their father was dead, they
said, Joseph will peradventure
hate us, and will certainly
requite us all the evil which we
did unto him. And they sent a
messenger unto Joseph, saying,
Thy father did command before he
died, saying, So shall ye say
unto Joseph, Forgive, I pray
thee now, the trespass of thy
brethren, and their sin; for
they did unto thee evil: and
now, we pray thee, forgive the
trespass of the servants of the
God of thy father. And Joseph
wept when they spake unto him.
And his brethren also went and
fell down before his face; and
they said, Behold, we be thy
servants. And Joseph said unto
them, Fear not: for am I in the
place of God? But as for you,
ye thought evil against me; but
God meant it unto good,
to bring to pass, as it is this
day, to save much
people alive.
If you read nothing else, please
ponder this.
If you trust Christian Science
as God’s revealed Truth, then
neither you nor I have reason to
be concerned about our eternal
destiny (for as you know, both Baptists and Christian
Scientists profess godliness in all that we do or
say and believe that we should pray
without ceasing to the one God,
the God of Abraham, Isaac and
Jacob who meets our every need).
However, if Christian
Science is not God’s revealed
truth and we fail to confess Jesus
as Lord and Savior (ask Him into
our heart and not be ashamed to
make it public since, as the Scriptures say,
He took our place
and paid our sin debt), then
those leaning on Christian
Science have been terribly
deceived and will find
themselves at the Great White
Throne judgment where they will
be judged based upon their
works -- their progress in
demonstrating God’s laws and
their “spiritual understanding”
-– because they rejected God’s
saving grace and God’s plan of salvation.
I tell you this, dear friend
because I love you and do not
want you to perish. As painful
as all this sounds and as
uncomfortable as it makes you
feel, as it did me as well. I am
asking you to really consider
this scenario.
Imagine the unimaginable, you
die (as we all will) without
confessing with your mouth and
believing in your heart on the
mighty name of Jesus and his
precious saving blood, and then
find out on the other side of
death, that it too late and
there is now no hope, no hope
for eternity. This is not what I
say; this is what the Scriptures
say. If it were up to Phil Moser,
all those who live good and
godly lives should go to heaven,
but this is not what the
Scriptures plainly say.
Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death;
but the gift of God is eternal
life through Jesus Christ our
Lord.
Ezekiel 18:4
…the soul that sinneth, it shall
die.
John 8:24
I said therefore unto you that
you shall die in your sins: for
if ye believe not that I am he
ye shall die in your sins.
You have everything to gain and
nothing to lose by doing this.
Please, please please! Do not be
lulled into a false sense of
security! This is real and the
choices we make now have eternal
consequences!
John 3:15-16
whosoever believeth in him
should not perish, but have
eternal life. For God so loved
the world, that he gave his only
begotten Son, that whosoever
believeth in him should not
perish, but have everlasting
life.
Romans 10:8-10
The word is near you, in your
mouth and in your heart (that
is, the word of faith which we
preach): that if you confess
with your mouth the Lord Jesus
and believe in your heart that
God has raised Him from the
dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes
unto righteousness, and with the
mouth confession is made unto
salvation.
Ask yourself this question: Will
I chose the Bible (the
infallible Word of God) or the
writings of Science and Health,
writings which claim to shed the
light of Truth on the Scriptures
but, instead, refute and are at
odds with many of the Scriptures
and what they teach? I chose the
saving grace of our Lord and
Savior Jesus Christ, and I pray
that you will as well.
If you fail to act on this plea,
it goes without saying that I will
still love you, pray for your
redemption and hope that you
will still love and respect me.
I have written this with
only love and concern for you. I am compelled to warn
you…… If you die without this
confession you will remember
this day for eternity and that
you heard this message and chose
of your free will to deny God’s
saving grace and His plan for
your redemption. If this
makes you feel uncomfortable or
uneasy, it should! It is not
God’s will that any should
perish but that all should come to
Him.
Matthew 18:14 Even so
it is not the will of your
Father who is in heaven that one
of these little ones should
perish. (Jesus)
God’s plan of salvation isn’t
complicated, it’s easy. It is
simple. “I recognize that I am a
sinner and that my sin deserves
judgment. I can’t save myself;
I need a Savior. Jesus, you are
my personal Savior. You took my
sins to the cross, you paid with
your blood a debt I could not
pay. Forgive me, wash me clean,
come into my heart, and be the
Lord of my life. Make me a new
person. I repent of my sin and I
trust you as my Lord and
Savior.” Then live faithful to
your confession by making Him
first in your life, and do
not be ashamed to confess it
publicly.
Matthew 10:22-23 Whosoever
therefore shall confess me
before men, him will I confess
also before my Father which is
in heaven. But whosoever shall
deny me before men, him will I
also deny before my Father which
is in heaven.
(JESUS)
Please don’t deny Jesus as Lord
and Savior. Don’t put this
decision off. It is not too
late. You can secure your
eternal destiny now and your
name will be written in the
Lamb's Book of Life. Your
salvation will be secure.
6. Jesus is God incarnate
Irrefutable
facts leading us to know that
Jesus was both God and man.
-
Jesus
was worshipped as GOD
-
He
was referred to as GOD
-
He
made himself equal with GOD
-
He communicated directly from
Heaven
-
Only God can forgive sins
Jesus was worshipped as GOD.
Matthew 2:11-12 And
when they were come into the
house, they saw the young child
with Mary his mother, and fell
down, and worshipped him: and
when they had opened their
treasures, they presented unto
him gifts; gold, and
frankincense, and myrrh. And being warned of God
in a dream that they should not
return to Herod, they departed
into their own country another
way.
Matthew 8:2 And,
behold, there came a leper and
worshipped him, saying, Lord, if
thou wilt, thou canst make me
clean.
Matthew 9:18-19 While
he spake these things unto them,
behold, there came a certain
ruler, and worshipped him,
saying, My daughter is even now
dead: but come and lay thy hand
upon her, and she shall live. And Jesus arose, and
followed him, and so did
his disciples.
Matthew 14:29-33 And he said,
Come. And when
Peter was come down out of the
ship, he walked on the water, to
go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind
boisterous, he was afraid; and
beginning to sink, he cried,
saying, Lord, save me. And immediately Jesus
stretched forth his hand,
and caught him, and said unto
him,
O
thou of little faith, wherefore
didst thou doubt? And when they were come
into the ship, the wind ceased. Then they that were in
the ship came and worshipped
him, saying, Of a truth thou art
the Son of God.
Matthew 15:25 Then came she and
worshipped him, saying, Lord,
help me. But he answered and
said,
It is not meet to take the
children's bread, and to cast
it to dogs. And she said, Truth,
Lord: yet the dogs eat of the
crumbs which fall from their
masters' table. Then Jesus answered and
said unto her,
O
woman, great is thy
faith: be it unto thee even as
thou wilt. And her
daughter was made whole from
that very hour.
Matthew 28:9-10 And
as they went to tell his
disciples, behold, Jesus met
them, saying,
All hail. And they
came and held him by the feet,
and worshipped him. Then said Jesus unto
them,
Be not afraid: go tell my
brethren that they go into
Galilee, and there shall they
see me.
Matthew 28:16-20 Then the eleven
disciples went away into
Galilee, into a mountain where
Jesus had appointed them. And when they saw him,
they worshipped him: but some doubted. And Jesus came and spake
unto them, saying,
All power is given unto me in
heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all
nations, baptizing them in the
name of the Father, and of the
Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all
things whatsoever I have
commanded you: and, lo, I am
with you alway, even unto
the end of the world.
Amen.
Matthew 5:6-8
But when he saw Jesus afar off,
he ran and worshipped him, And cried with a loud
voice, and said, What have I to
do with thee, Jesus, thou
Son of the most high God? I
adjure thee by God, that thou
torment me not. For he said unto him,
Come out of the man, thou
unclean spirit.
Luke 24:51-53 And
it came to pass, while he
blessed them, he was parted from
them, and carried up into
heaven. And they worshipped him,
and returned to Jerusalem with
great joy: And were continually
in the temple, praising and
blessing God. Amen
John 9:31-39 Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a
worshipper of God, and doeth his
will, him he heareth. Since the world began was
it not heard that any man opened
the eyes of one that was born
blind. If this man were not of
God, he could do nothing. They answered and said
unto him, Thou wast altogether
born in sins, and dost thou
teach us? And they cast him out. Jesus heard that they had cast
him out; and when he had found
him, he said unto him,
Dost thou believe on the Son of
God? He answered and said, Who
is he, Lord, that I might
believe on him? And Jesus said
unto him,
Thou hast both seen him, and it
is he that talketh with thee.
And he said, Lord, I believe.
And he
worshipped
him. And Jesus said,
For judgment I am come into this
world, that they which see not
might see; and that they which
see might be made blind.
Revelation 5:11-14
And I beheld, and I heard the
voice of many angels round about
the throne and the beasts and
the elders: and the number of
them was ten thousand times ten
thousand, and thousands of
thousands; Saying with a loud voice,
Worthy is the Lamb that was
slain to receive power, and
riches, and wisdom, and
strength, and honour, and glory,
and blessing. And every creature
which is in heaven, and on the
earth, and under the earth, and
such as are in the sea, and all
that are in them, heard I
saying, Blessing, and honour,
and glory, and power, be
unto him that sitteth upon the
throne, and unto the Lamb for
ever and ever. And the four beasts said,
Amen. And the four and
twenty elders fell down and
worshipped him that liveth for
ever and ever.
Jesus never prevented
anyone from worshipping him. You
would think if he were not part
of the Trinity he would have
said, as Peter did when
Cornelius fell at his feet,
“stand up; I myself also am a
man.”
Acts 10;25-26 And
as Peter was coming in,
Cornelius met him, and fell down
at his feet, and worshipped
him. But Peter took him up,
saying, Stand up; I myself also
am a man.
John 20:26-29
And after eight days again his
disciples were within, and
Thomas with them: then
came Jesus, the doors being
shut, and stood in the midst,
and said,
Peace be unto you.
Then saith he to Thomas,
Reach hither thy finger, and
behold my hands; and reach
hither thy hand, and thrust
it into my side: and be not
faithless, but believing. And Thomas answered and
said unto him, My Lord and my
God. Jesus saith unto him,
Thomas, because thou hast seen
me, thou hast believed: blessed
are they that have not
seen, and yet have
believed.
Jesus did not correct Thomas and
say I am not God.
Jesus was
referred to as GOD.
John
1:1-14 In
the beginning was the Word, and
the Word was with God,
and
the
Word
was
God. The same was in the
beginning with God. All things were made by
him; and without him was not any
thing made that was made. In him
was life; and the life was the
light of men. And the light shineth in
darkness; and the darkness
comprehended it not. There was a man sent from
God, whose name was John. The same came for a
witness, to bear witness of the
Light, that all men
through him might believe. He was not that Light,
but was sent to bear
witness of that Light. That was the true Light,
which lighteth every man that
cometh into the world. He was in the world, and
the world was made by him, and
the world knew him not. He came unto his own, and
his own received him not. But as many as received
him, to them gave he power to
become the sons of God, even
to them that believe on his
name: Which were born, not of
blood, nor of the will of the
flesh, nor of the will of man,
but of God. And
the Word was made flesh,
and dwelt among us, (and we
beheld his glory, the glory as
of the only begotten of the
Father,) full of grace and
truth.
1 John 5:7
For there are three that bear
record in heaven, the Father,
the
Word, and the Holy
Ghost: and these three are
one.
In contrast,
Science and Health states:
"The theory of three persons in
one God (that is, a personal
Trinity or Tri-unity) suggests
polytheism ..." (Science and
Health, 256:9-11)
Colossians 2:9
For in him dwelleth all the
fullness of the Godhead bodily.
1 Timothy 3:16
And without controversy great is
the mystery of godliness;
God was manifest in the flesh,
justified in the Spirit, seen of
angels, preached unto the
Gentiles, believed on the in the
world, received up into glory.
What John saw and heard:
Revelation:1-2 The
Revelation of Jesus Christ,
which God gave unto him, to shew
unto his servants things which
must shortly come to pass; and
he sent and signified it
by his angel unto his servant
John: Who bare record of the
word of God, and of the
testimony of Jesus Christ, and
of all things that he saw.
Revelation 19:11-16 And
I saw heaven opened, and behold
a white horse; and he that
sat upon him was called
Faithful and True, and in
righteousness he doth judge and
make war. His eyes were as a
flame of fire, and on his head
were many crowns; and he
had a name written, that no man
knew, but he himself. And he was clothed
with a vesture dipped in blood:
and
his name is called The Word of
God. And the armies which
were in heaven followed him
upon white horses, clothed in
fine linen, white and clean. And out of his mouth
goeth a sharp sword, that with
it he should smite the nations:
and he shall rule them with a
rod of iron: and he treadeth the
winepress of the fierceness and
wrath of Almighty God. And he hath on his
vesture and on his thigh a name
written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD
OF LORDS.
Jesus
communicated directly from
Heaven
“The intercommunication is
always from God to His idea,
man.” (Science and Health,
284:28)
Acts 9:1-5
And Saul, yet breathing out
threatenings and slaughter
against the disciples of the
Lord, went unto the high
priest, And desired of him
letters to Damascus to the
synagogues, that if he found any
of this way, whether they were
men or women, he might bring
them bound unto Jerusalem. And as he journeyed, he
came near Damascus: and suddenly
there shined round about him a
light from heaven: And he fell
to the earth, and heard a voice
saying unto him,
Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou
me? And he said, Who art
thou, Lord? And the Lord said,
I
am Jesus
whom thou persecutest: it is
hard for thee to kick against
the pricks.
Comment: If intercommunication
is always from God to His idea,
man, then Jesus must be God, or
the above verse would be an example
of spiritualism or communication
with the dead, which it is certainly not.
Jesus made himself equal with
GOD
John 5:22-23
For the Father judgeth no man,
but hath committed
all judgment unto the Son:
That all men should honor the
Son, even as they honor the
Father. He that honoreth not the
Son honoreth not the Father
which hath sent him.
Hebrews 1:1-3
God, who at sundry times and in
divers manners spake in time
past unto the fathers by the
Prophets, Hath in these last
days spoken unto us by his Son,
whom he hath appointed heir to
of all things, by whom also he
make the worlds; Who being, the
brightness of his glory, and
express image of his person, and
upholding all things by the word
of his power, when he had by
himself purged our sins, sat
down on the right hand of the
Majesty on high;
Revelation 1:1-2 The
Revelation of Jesus Christ,
which God gave unto him, to shew
unto his servants things which
must shortly come to pass; and
he sent and signified it
by his angel unto his servant
John: Who bare record of the
word of God, and of the
testimony of Jesus Christ,
and of all things that he saw.
Revelation 1:8 -18
I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which
is, and which was, and which is
to come, the Almighty.
I
John, who also am your brother,
and companion in tribulation,
and in the kingdom and patience
of Jesus Christ, was in the isle
that is called Patmos, for the
word of God, and for the
testimony of Jesus Christ. I
was in the Spirit on the Lord's
day, and heard behind me a great
voice, as of a trumpet, Saying,
I
am Alpha and Omega, the first
and the last:
And I turned to see the
voice that spake with me. And
being turned, I saw seven golden
candlesticks; And in the midst of the
seven candlesticks one
like unto the Son of man,
clothed with a garment down
to the foot, and girt about the
paps with a golden girdle. His head and his
hairs were white like
wool, as white as snow; and his
eyes were as a flame of
fire; And his feet like unto
fine brass, as if they burned in
a furnace; and his voice as the
sound of many waters. And he had in his right
hand seven stars: and out of his
mouth went a sharp two edged
sword: and his countenance
was as the sun shineth in
his strength. And when I saw him, I
fell at his feet as dead. And he
laid his right hand upon me,
saying unto me,
Fear not; I am the first and the
last:
I
am he that liveth, and
was dead;
and, behold, I am alive for
evermore, Amen; and have the
keys of hell and of death.
Revelation 19:15-17 And
out of his mouth goeth a sharp
sword, that with it he should
smite the nations: and he shall
rule them with a rod of iron:
and he treadeth the winepress
of the fierceness and wrath of
Almighty God. And he hath on his
vesture and on his thigh a name
written, KING OF KINGS, AND
LORD OF LORDS. And I saw an angel
standing in the sun; and he
cried with a loud voice, saying
to all the fowls that fly in the
midst of heaven, Come and gather
yourselves together unto the
supper of the great God;
Philippians 2:5-11
Let this mind be in you, which
was also in Christ Jesus Who,
being in the form of God,
thought it not
robbery to be
equal with God: But made himself of no
reputation, and took upon him
the form of a servant, and was
made in the likeness of men: And
being found in fashion as a man,
he humbled himself, and became
obedient unto death, even the
death of the cross. Wherefore God
also hath highly exalted him,
and given him a name which is
above every name: That at the
name of Jesus every knee should
bow, of things in heaven,
and things in earth, and
things under the earth;
And that every tongue
should confess that Jesus Christ
is Lord, to the glory
of God the Father.
Colossians 2:8-9
Beware lest any man spoil you
through philosophy and vain
deceit, after the tradition of
men, after the rudiments of the
world, and not after Christ. For
in him dwelleth all the fullness
of the Godhead bodily.
John 14: 6-9
And if I go and
prepare a place for you, I will
come again, and receive you unto
myself; that where I am,
there ye may be also.
And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.
Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we
know not whither thou goest; and
how can we know the way? Jesus
saith unto him,
I am the
way,
the truth, and the life:
no man cometh unto the Father,
but by me. If ye had known me,
ye should have known my Father
also: and from henceforth ye
know him, and have seen him.
Philip saith unto him, Lord,
shew us the Father, and it
sufficeth us. Jesus saith unto
him,
Have I been so long time with
you, and yet hast thou not known
me, Philip? he that hath seen me
hath seen the Father;
Jesus clearly says he is the
Truth and the Life. Even by
Christian Science standards he
is claiming to be God. You
or I would never claim to be
Truth or Life.
Colossians 1:12-22
giving thanks to the Father who
has qualified us to be partakers
of the inheritance of the saints
in the light.
He has delivered us from
the power of darkness and
conveyed us into the
kingdom of the Son of His love,
in whom we have
redemption through His blood,
the forgiveness of sins. He is the image of the
invisible God, the firstborn
over all creation.
For by Him all things
were created that are in heaven
and that are on earth, visible
and invisible, whether thrones
or dominions or principalities
or powers. All things were
created through Him and for Him.
And He is before all
things, and in Him all things
consist.
And He is the head of
the body, the church, who is
the beginning, the firstborn
from the dead, that in all
things He may have the
preeminence.
For
it pleased the Father that
in Him all the fullness should
dwell,
and by Him to
reconcile all things to Himself,
by Him, whether things on earth
or things in heaven, having made
peace through the blood of His
cross. And you, who once were
alienated and enemies in your
mind by wicked works, yet now He
has reconciled
in the body of His flesh
through death, to present you
holy, and blameless, and above
reproach in His sight—
Titus 2:
11-13
For the grace of God that brings
salvation has appeared to all
men, teaching us that, denying
ungodliness and worldly lusts,
we should live soberly,
righteously, and godly in the
present age, looking for the
blessed hope and glorious
appearing of our great God and
Savior Jesus Christ,
Jesus died on
the cross
Science and Health
“His disciples believed Jesus to
be dead while he was hidden in
the sepulcher, whereas he was
alive ..." (Science and Health,
44:28-29)
“Jesus' students, not
sufficiently advanced fully to
understand their Master's
triumph, did not perform many
wonderful works, until they saw
him after his crucifixion and
learned that he had not died.”
(Science and Health, 45:32-46:3)
The Bible
Romans 8:34 Who
is he that condemneth? It is
Christ that died, yea
rather, that is risen again, who
is even at the right hand of
God, who also maketh
intercession for us.
1 Thessalonians 4:14
For if we believe that
Jesus died and rose
again, even so them also which
sleep in Jesus will God bring
with him.
1 Corinthians 8:11
And through thy knowledge shall
the weak brother perish,
for whom Christ died?
1 Peter 3:18 For
Christ also hath once suffered
for sins, the just for the
unjust, that he might bring us
to God,
being put to death in the flesh,
but quickened by the Spirit:

Warnings about False Gospels
Matthew 7:21-23
Not everyone who says to Me,
"Lord, Lord," shall enter the
kingdom of heaven, but he who
does the will of My Father in
heaven. Many will say to Me in
that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we
not prophesied in Your name,
cast out demons in Your name,
and done many wonders in Your
name?' "And then I will declare
to them, 'I never knew you;
depart from Me…"
(Jesus)
Matthew 24:11 Then
many false prophets will rise up
and deceive many. (Jesus)
Matthew 24:24
For false Christs and false
prophets will rise and show
great signs and wonders to
deceive… (Jesus)
2 John 1:7
For may deceivers are
entered into the world who
confess not that Jesus Christ is
come in the flesh.
1John 5:10
He that believeth on the
Son of God hath the witness in
himself: he that believeth not
God hath made him a liar;
because believeth not the record
that God gave of his Son.
1 John 5:13
These things have I
written unto you that believe on
the name of the Son of God; that
ye may know that ye have eternal
life, and that ye may believe on
the name of the Son of God.
Proverbs 30:5-6
Every word of God is
pure…. Add thou not unto his
words, lest he reprove thee, and
thou be found a liar.
Galatians 1: 6-8
(There
is only
One Gospel)
I marvel that you are turning
away so soon from Him who called
you in the grace of Christ, to a
different gospel, which is not another; but
there are some who trouble you
and want to pervert the gospel
of Christ. But even if we, or an
angel from heaven, preach any
other gospel to you than what we
have preached to you, let him be
accursed.
Revelation 22:18-19 For I testify to everyone who hears
the words of the prophecy of
this book: If anyone adds to
these things, God will add
to him the plagues that are
written in this book; and if
anyone takes away from the words
of the book of this prophecy,
God shall take away his part
from the Book of Life, from the
holy city, and from the things
which are written in this book.
Romans 5:6-10 For when we were
still without strength, in due
time Christ died for the
ungodly. For scarcely for a
righteous man will one die; yet
perhaps for a good man someone
would even dare to die. But God
demonstrates His own love toward
us, in that while we were still
sinners, Christ died for us. Much
more then, having now been
justified by His blood, we shall
be saved from wrath through
Him. For if when we were enemies
we were reconciled to God
through the death of His Son,
much more, having been
reconciled, we shall be saved by
His life.
I can’t ignore something so
clear. Christ died for us and we
are justified by his blood which
saves us from the wrath to come
on unbelievers. This is the true
gospel.
2
Peter 2:1
But there were also false
prophets among the people, even
as there will be false teachers
among you, who will secretly
bring in destructive heresies,
even denying the Lord who bought
them, and bring on themselves
swift destruction.
By denying the deity of Christ
and the true purpose for his
death on the cross, Mrs. Eddy
proves herself to be a false
teacher and a heretic.
Below is irrefutable evidence of
one of several plagiarisms
committed by Mary Baker Eddy.
There are many things about her
writings that I was shocked and
very saddened to discover.
This is my copy of the English
Reader printed by Lindley Murray
in 1823. A comparison to Mrs.
Eddy’s Miscellaneous Writing
(1895) on page 147, shows she
copied everything highlighted in
red, word for word, and took full
credit for it.
The words in red were copied
verbatim by Mrs. Eddy as seen

You may be saying to

are rejecting him.
