Hi Sharon,
I was searching through the archives and found this post of yours, where you state that the first edition of Science and Health was unreadable. I just posted the other day a web address where you can read the 1st edition from 1875 online at www.mbeinstitute.org
It is too long for me to read the whole thing online, but I did browse through it and actually thought some of it sounded better and made more sense to me than the final version that was edited.
I was curious if you found anything good in it that is edited out of the final version or anything interesting that was edited out.
Or is the final version the only one worth reading in your opinion. Thanks for any additional sharing regarding the 1st version of S & H compared to the final version. Steve

Hay,
Nutty as it seams people do what they want to do. They even discuss the hundreds of thousands of deaths caused by medication and by doctors that kill children by accident or oops what, well,we tried didn't work oh well we can all except that cant we we tried everything. Oh yeah forget trying God he doesn't really count, he gave us these great tools called operations and medications that make us sicker then we were when we started but that is OK let's make the pharmisuticals richer !! that is all that matters ! right ? they get rich and we criticize the Christian Scientists for doing something different (shame on them) They lost one millionth as many as the doctors have but we will all just keep letting doctors and medicine keep on keeping on! Now in fact there is enough blame to go around inst there ?
It is all an individual choice for each person. He or she can work out their own salvation and if they don't get it then that is on them or they can try and make it easy and run for the cupboard and get a pill or something and hope for the best. There is just no easy way out so Lets blame the CS church for everything and forget the rest. What a bunch of cowards ! If you can't handle Cs then try something else and let others figure it out for themselves. I honestly doubt that any of the people involved with this sight were ever really Christian Scientists anyway. They sound more like EVANGELICALS grinding an ax.
(sorry for the misspellings but I am tired with everyone cutting down everyone else race and religion to make people think they know something when they just don't) I have read Mrs. Eddy's book and find it very enlightening and feel that she certinly knows a lot more about God then anyone that put this sight together !
My grandmother always said If you want to know how to fix a car then go ask a mechanic. My recommendation for if you want to learn about Christian Science why spend time with some disgruntled x CSers
go look up Christian Science on the web for yourself. Work out your own salvation!
If you wanted to learn about Jesus would you have gone to the pharisees, no you go directly to Jesus.
And for God's sake pray about it before making such harsh judgments!

Believe it or not, I agree with you. I encourage anyone who wants to learn about Jesus' teachings to go directly to the Scriptures and bypass the works and opinions of men. Anything not supported by the Scriptures must be considered suspect. If in your personal relationship with Jesus Christ you find that CS works and is compatible with God's word, go for it!
