You make a good point here yourself - many of them may feel burned.

I might also add that "Christians" aren't always the best looking bunch to want to associate with - many are judgemental, others are irrational and fear-based, and still others are flat-out hypocrites. Ghandi said something about admiring Christianity, but being quite unimpressed with those who call themselves "Christians".

But I still would say to tmcl and Erol that that's all irrelevant! No, Christianity might not solve every single question one's mind can conjure up (due to our limited understanding, not God's answers). But it will provide us with all that we need to know in the spiritual department, and much, much more.

And where else would one go?! Atheism leads to nihilism and insanity, and Christian Science - being self-delusional - only works if one doesn't think about it too hard. And the Eastern stuff - well, it's only a half-developed in comparison to Christianity.

But when you look into Christianity - the Church Fathers, the acceptance of Reason & Logic early on, the continuous support of Science, the unmistakable cohesion of the Sacred Scriptures, well-and-truly beyond mere chance - oh, my goodness! The truth of Christianity simply smacks one in the face. No wonder Western Civilization flourished in comparison to the rest of the world.

So how does a person live without a faith like this?! It's hard to imagine, now. But I would encourage tmcl and Erol to sit down with some good, solid Christian classics, like Chesterton or Lewis, or perhaps read some Augustine or Aquinas. They're too smart for C.S., or the limited agnostic viewpoint.

. . . and tmcl, Erol - you'll just have to forgive me for being blunt. But I feel it's ultimately less kind to mince words.

My words really are from the heart. I feel like just saying, "Hey, buddy - I've been there. I thought like that for 40 years!"

What I can promise you is that there really is a place to go, where you don't have to leave your thinking cap behind. Life, truth, intelligence, love - when you look into Christianity and its history, you'll find that you don't leave any of this behind. On the contrary, the pieces actually fit.

Birdstrike,

Why are Christian Science here? Perhaps they want to learn how to scape from the cult, they are indeed searching and planning. As you know how difficult is to get out of cs cult but here in this forum you will find the key to open the door and get that.....out of there.
