Hi

I'm new and obviously here coz I have a mum who is into this CS.

Without boring you all to death I will simply say that my mum is not the woman she was before CS.

It has come to the stage that I don't even want to go over and visit her coz I know I will get the third degree and have CS pumped into me.

I might say "I got a headache" and the answer is "No you dont, there's no such thing, it's error talking to you".

And the list goes on.

You see some things she tells me makes sense and I think ok maybe she is right eg. the power of words and how thinking things can make you believe etc.

I dont know I'm confused but I know CS is just not right.

HELP

Hi jesusmyhealer,

CS contains both logical and illogical ideas, rational and irrational modes of thinking, scientifically sound ideas and scientific ideas that it has twisted into something the science never indicated. That's why it can be confusing. You hear something and think, "that makes sense...except for..."

One exmple is the mind-body connection I think you're referreing to when you talk about "the power of words and how thinking things can make you believe etc." It's obvious that a lot of stress-induced medical problems are caused by the way we think. I'm thinking of much of the back pain that people experience, tension headaches, and even diseases that we sometimes catch because longterm stress has lowered our immune function. So your mother is right, to some degree, about the power of words and thoughts. But CS takes the fact that our emotions can produce physical symptoms and twists it to the extreme idea that our entire physical experience is the result of our thinking -- that, in "reality," our physical bodies don't exist. That's the source of her statement that "there's no such thing" as your headache.

Have you let your mother know that you don't want to hear about her CS beliefs?

Thanks Linda

What you said is exactly right.  I do believe with stress etc. we can bring on illness, this is also a great Buddhist philosophy and I'm sure relates to many doctrines not just CS.

I have even gone to my priest to discuss CS and my concerns with mum.

I have given her written documentation against CS which she sent to a CS Pract. and of course they told her that she will experience 'the works of error trying to turn her away from her CS faith and that she must rebuke it, 'be gone''".

I have recently joined a church group here in Adelaide, Australia namely Paradise Christian Church and finally for the first time in my life I feel a sense of release, such joy that I have found what I am looking for and Jesus has spoken to me also.

My mum's opinion of my new journey is "yes well that's ok for now but soon you will find out that the way they teach is not correct, you need to turn to CS".

Despite all the Sentinels she tries to give me and suggests I listen to the radio program available here on Tues nights everything that comes out of her mouth, she speaks the Mary Baker Eddy language and it drives me crazy.

In time I will introduce this site to her and keep trying to convince her to turn away from this CS but I know it will be hard.  She is pretty much in deep with this CS, I reckon she owns every book, every CD, hundreds of dollars on CS paraphernalia, it's sickening.

Cant she see that this faith she has is affecting our relationship as a family?  So many people have turned away from her and then they come to me and ask "What's wrong with your mum?"

I'm at a loss, I don't know what to do anymore!

Are you able to confirm if CS philosophy is based upon Hindu or Buddhist philosophy?  I heard this along they grapevine but I doubt it.  Coz if I could convince her of that then I know she would turn from it.  I told her this once and she said "Oh no, Mary Baker Eddy always said 'no to any "ism" religion".  Hence I thought it cant be Buddhism, Hinduism.

JesusmyHealer:

Per your post, you may want to check out the attached web link, which discusses ties between Hinduism and CS.

Thanks so much for the link John.

I'm going to present this to her as a starter and see what she thinks.

Wish me luck

God bless you!
