Thanks for the information Linda. I do have a copy of your book, so I guess that is where I have read it before. To believe in that type of superstition is not in line with "God is all."
I would have thought bad weather would be an illusion, it's not real.

Cheers

But it "seems" real when you have to shovel its results off your front driveway.

Linda,

I was taught that praying for another without being asked would (or at least could) create mental interference and could even end up as unintended mental malpractice. In short, it was spiritually dangerous to a person to pray for them without being asked. I'll guess the practitioner felt that two people praying for the same person, even when asked, could also create mental interference.

Perhaps two people praying create a moiré pattern from God's perspective? This could be a topic of scientific study if there were an organization somewhere about that engaged in the scientific study and application of Christian teachings. Then again, maybe I'm just thinking too hard.

The basic premise of witchcraft, shamanism, and the occult is to gain knowledge & power on the temporal plane so as to control power(s) on the astral/spiritual plane, which will then, in turn, accomplish the will of the witch/shaman/spiritual practitioner. Sure, lots of these crafts involve strange things like potions, spells, familiars (e.g. animals), crystals etc.etc. but the principle is the same in all of them: "If I can master this, then I can accomplish that! This dynamic can be applied for good or evil, blessing or curse.

FollowingHim,

Thanks for this synopsis of the principle behind occult practice. I realize I am diverging from the topic at hand, Secret Class Notes, but would love to explore your description of witchcraft and the attractive challenge it presents to young & old alike who think,"If I can master this, then I can accomplish that!", especially in light of the Harry Potter craze of recent years. Please see new thread entitled, "Harry Potter in the hands of children".
