I am SO sick of hearing that the big problem in getting healings is the fault of the Christian Scientist and not of the religion itself. How many FAILURES do you number among your flock of lemmings? How many people must sicken and die needlessly, feeling that they just couldnt "get" a healing. How much prayer and study does it take if a lifetime of Sundays...a lifetime of Wednesday nights, class, associations, reading reading reading all the periodicals, the lesson sermons, the lectures, a lifetime of calls to the practitioners... while one slips towards death, suffering horribly, wondering why? Why cant I get a healing? AND, of course, they KNOW the problem is with them, THEY are failures.
Stand by and watch someone you love suffer and die, needlessly, NEEDLESSLY! Then you would say they didnt practice it well enough? I see very little difference in the people who died at the hands of Jim Jones than CSers who die at the hands of their parents teachings, MBEs, and all the Christian Scientist enablers who support them in their mindlessness as they slide to death. CSers LOVE their complicated, difficult to understand, hard to practice religion. They feel so much superior to everyone else in their secret knowlege of how it all works, what GOD and Jesus and LIFE is all about. Its so wonderfully complicated no one can practice it perfectly can they? Practice practice practice...take a breath...practice practice practice...take a breath...just cant get a healilng yet? ....well you cant seem to correct your thinking can you ...you must KNOW THE TRUTH!!!!! And just like Jim Jones CS puts you in a protected area where you are on your own and the outside world are the evil ones. | BINGO! A very good description of what goes on! I never thought about it but you are right about Jim Jones taking his followers away from society to keep the evil ones away. Iti s like the sick Christian Scientists who put themselves into a CS nursing home and cut off communication from the "outsiders" while they die hideous deaths which could have been treated by modern medicine... and even if there wasn't a cure, they could at least avail themselves of the comforts of pain killers, oxygen, and other measures that could make the dying more comfortable.
