I've been looking for more info on Christian Science recently because it happens to be on the radio when I wake up in the mornings... interviews with christian science teachers and advocates.

It all sounds really good on the surface - they sound intelligent and rational (which appeals to me), and they sound like they love God - but they say so many things that just make the alarms go off (this is coming from my reformed theological viewpoint).

I have no interest in converting to CS... just looking into more info for it - I can already tell what is wrong with it just from listening to them on the radio.... so naturally I go to wikipedia.

it is a great source of info on the subject - I learned a lot. but their section on "Theological Controversies" his not really helpful - and it was the main section of interest for me. It appears to be written from a CS advocate - being more a defense of why CS is unfairly criticised. Is it possible that you guys who actually know something about this topic could update this section in wikipedia with a more objective and non-biased description of the controversies?

from wikipedia, at least I can find a link to this site and other similar ones - but it would be nice if the article were more complete.... not forcing me to go elsewhere for the whole story.

I'd do it myself, but I am highly unqualified in this subject

Glad you found our link on Wikipedia. Thanks for offering your ideas.

Getting objective information posted on Wikipedia Ihas been difficult as there are some pro-CS editors and moderators interested in blocking non-favorable information. While Wikipedia articles are supposed to be neutral, most of the CS articles are not. There are topics, however, that cannot and should not be addressed neutrally. In such cases, the articles should represent a balance of perspectives or at least indicate there are alternate perspectives.

As I tried to provide some balance and links to the Christian Way site to the Christian Science Family of Wikipedia Articles, I stepped into a mess of diehards who insisted that even a link to the Christian Way was not appropriate in some cases.

Looks I now have about 40 CS articles on my CS watch list* and I'm sure I've missed some. CSists are generally so threatened by any level of descent that I was forced to allow removal of the link from some articles such as MBE and S&H. They argued those articles merely represented a neutral biography and a book for which it was not appropriate to provide a link to alternate perspectives.

Thanks! looks like you are already on it Well, it is a shame they censor the info - it shows a weak argument...

it is a requirement for any objective article to consist of the pro's and cons, and using the word "unfair" anywhere in the article is automatically biased lol. I'll just download the CS texts from project gutenberg and skim them.

luckily, the world wide web is bigger than wikipedia, and they can't censor it all. (though some cults try!- just try to find out stuff about scientology...)
