G,
Regarding your unapproved later post...
Ah, sorry. I don't mean to debate Christianity, that isn't the purpose of your site. I'll stop.
Could you please remind me about your connection to Christian Science? While mutually respectful discussion of Christianity is a privilege, you're right that the purpose of this site does have the commonality of our mutual experience with Christian Science.

G,
Why wasn't that approved?
Thanks for reminding me of the context of your experience with Christian Science.
In the context of your other messages and in the absence of objections that would have indicated a problem, it appeared to me that it was merely sarcastic argument for the sake of disagreement.

Do-Go stated a few posts back,
In the context of my comment, if you are apart from God then you are in Hell. Words can be used in many ways. I suppose that the more specific and theologically accurate connotation of "Hell" would be about eternal life after living life on Earth.
G, as a Christian I accept the Bible's teachings about Hell being an absolute and final reality for those who die without Jesus Christ. One way I've heard it put is,
For those whose destiny is Heaven, life on Earth is the most hellish experience they will ever know. And for those who are doomed to Hell, Earth is the closest thing to Heaven they will ever experience.
I know you consider the Bible as an unreliable collection of myths and teachings loosely derived from various ancient peoples and events. I submit that, having experienced false religion you have turned all religion into a spiritual and psychological scapegoat. And that is a tragic pity. Sorry if I sound condescending, but I really do feel that way, having this happen to other people I care deeply about. I just ask that you keep an open mind, read the Bible as basic literature, and, hopefully, you will come to fresh and different conclusions. If you're a bit more adventurous, consider reading Josh McDowell's book, More Than a Carpenter . It's an easy read, and McDowell goes over the basic arguments of why the Gospels are reliable, and the basic beliefs that Christians from various legitimate denominations derive from them.
If your curiosity is provoked, check out titles by Ravi Zacharias, a Christian convert from Hinduism who has quite a number of good, readable titles explaining the Christian faith and distinguishing it from other belief systems--including atheism.
Regards,
FollowingHim.
