I was looking at the new TMC site today regarding the new Hymnal Supplement. Out of my infamous curiosity I checked out the lecture schedule. Not a whole lot of lectures out there. None are scheduled in some large states such as Florida. California has a few, but guess that corresponds to their population.

I remember how much I disliked going to a CS church when I was growing up in Wisconsin because there were so few people there.  Seeing the numbers of attendents declining as the Sundays passed was demoralizing.  Only 1 of the kids I knew in Sunday School stuck with Christian Science.  Interestingly enough, he went on to marry a Jehovah's Witness.

Anyway, it seemed like I was on a sinking ship as I grew up.  I already hated the fact that I was part of such an odd church and no one seemed to understand my beliefs.  But then to have fewer and fewer people attending was really a downer.

I remember one high point -- when the new school year started in 1972, there were a couple of freshmen from the nearby college who started to attend regularly.  Boy, we all brought out the brass band (figuratively, of course) for them!

To this day, I avoid involvement with causes, employers, groups, etc that I feel aren't going to be there for the long haul.
