I pray that she will find the Jesus of the Bible. May God bless your efforts to reach out to her!

Linda

Thank you all, Gobe, Linda, and Marion,
I have a very hard time with this. Linda, Thank you for your information, it was your book that opened my eyes to what was going on(several years ago) It spurred me on to study up on this subject, because my family member was ill, and wouldn't go to the doctor. Prior to this, I was a new believer and couldn't make any sense of any discussions. I would scratch my head on every comment that was made by my sister. However I found out why, and then it made perfect sense. As I began to bring up the things that negated the truth, my sister put Ms. Bakers picture on the coffee table, and shut down communication. I have learned to pray for her, and speak truth only. I had a very hard time with this. She has went to the doctor recently. And she has been hearing truth, T.D. Jakes, Joyce Meyer. Praise the Lord. I found a prayer that I prayed for her everyday. The prayer was to Break the hold of false doctrine over _____, and loose the power of redemption over _______. Thank you for all of your work, the book was not something I read with joy. But it was something I needed. Now (& then) I know what I need to pray for. I have also been blessed to have discernment when false doctrine is present. And I detect it now very quickly, with strangers.
God's blessing and favor on each of you,
Anonymous
Anonymous,

Unfortunately, the very "healing system" of CS is a form of denial! If you acknowledge something to be real you thus make it real they say. Therefore CSists are to unsee the error and to see the spiritual reality thereby removing the fog of error and make the reality seen which has always been there.

CSists will apply this to sickess and to all types of problems they may have.

Marion

Yes, denial is a huge part of CS. I talk about this a lot in my book, The Religion that Kills, which examines Christian Science in light of secular "mind control" theory. For a few quotes from my book, click on the link I provided, click on "search inside this book" under the picture of my book, and then type "denial" into the search box. It will pull up several statements that I make regarding denial. (Note: The quote on page 175 is actually a quote from Mary Baker Eddy.)

You can also find the subject discussed in several threads within the Recovery and Health Issues category on this forum. It is also discussed elsewhere, but that's a good category to start with.

Anonymous Saturday, June 03, 2006 10:42 PM,

I have noticed that my family member that is involved in cs tends to have alot of denial not only in her belief system but in her emotional life.

Yes, denial is common in the teachings and practice of CS.

Do Go Be Man
<><

Is Denial a common trait?

I have noticed that my family member that is involved in cs tends to have alot of denial not only in her belief system but in her emotional life. I can't help but wonder if this is a common thread. I really have learned that the famous saying " thinking it makes it so", and can understand that this is denial, and also mind control. This belief eliminates God's power or ability to move in the situation, becuase if I don't think something, then how am I going to raise it up to Jesus for intervention. I have noticed also this a common thread (denial) in all who proclaim religion that is based on what the bible says is false doctrine.
