Hi everyone, I know it's been a long time since I have posted & just started lurking around again. Hope everyone had a wonderful summer & is doing Great!
My question is my Mom who is now 85 took off to a C.S. facility for 2 weeks on the spur of the moment & I'm having quite a difficult time with this to say the least. She had a C.S. friend bring her there which is 8 hours away. She was not sick or anything just decided to go which makes no sense to me at all. I have called her a few times & she seems fine but, I sure have a VERY hard time when I call there to try & be nice to whoever answers. Actually, I guess there really isn't anythng I can except pray that she does come home & doesn't get talked into staying there! Yikes
Have a Safe Labor Day Weekend & God Bless All of You,
Pam )

Pam,

Here are a few suggestions for some things you could do (I don't know if you would feel that all of these would be feasible in this case):

1. Ask your mom point blank why she went to the facility.

2. Try to find out what kind of services the facility offers. I assume they offer nursing services. But some CS facilities also offer "rest and study," where healthy Christian Scientists can go to the facility to spend time in in-depth study of CS. Also, some CS facilities have a kind of retirement community program, which can sometimes include assisted living, where older Christian Scientists can live at the facility permanently. Does the facility where your mom is have a website or put out a brochure? Could the staff there answer some of these questions over the phone? I would also find out what the facility charges for these various services.

3. Visit the facility in person and get a first hand look at the situation.

Thanks so much for your advice tmcl ) I did ask her & of course she pretty much avoided the questions I asked. Just said that she
wanted to go! Needless to say she has been gone for over 2 weeks now, myself, my daughter & 2 little Grandsons are going to pick her up on the 22nd of this month. I am really not to happy about even going there let alone the LONGGG drive. What we plan on doing is just picking her up & off we go....
Have A Wonderful Day All!
Thanx, Pam
