This is an article about NE University renting space from TMC, but you will notice that Debbi Lawrence, Community Relations Director, says that the membership decline has leveled off.

My sister is attending NE University and thanks to the space at TMC has the most beautiful apartment shared with other room mates, furnished with a kitchen that is larger than mine. I think this was a great move on part of the Church. Although the church is in decline, it's presence will continue to linger.

Hi, Frogs! It's nice to hear from you. It would feel strange to live on Mother Church property. I do agree that the Church was smart to rent out the space. I know someone who tracks the number of practitioners, teachers, and churches listed in the Journal. I don't recall seeing anything to convince me that the membership loss is leveling out. We'll have to see what the next few years bring.

| What property is she renting, FROGS? I was only aware of the Colonnade (along the reflecting pond) and the high-rise "Admin" building (110 Huntington) being put out to rent, and they're targeting business office tenants. Did they turn some of this into residential? That would be pretty plush! The apartments on Clearway Street (behind the Publishing Society building, formerly "One Norway Street," now designated by a Massachusetts Ave number) were originally all-TMC employees, but a few decades ago were opened up to the general public. Of course, TMC may have many other properties scattered around. These may have been made available to TMC employees on a sweetheart basis, but are now listed to the public. I reiterate: Lots of property & assets, along with cash flow, combined with a declining and divided membership, will eventually result in the implosion of institutional CS.
