I am so glad to see that some of you here read their Bibles. I am told that no one reads their Bibles like Scientists. I am glad that you quote Mrs. Eddy, but please use all of her passages and just don't take a line here and there. Mrs. Eddy's point was that His true flesh and blood were His Life; and they truly eat His flesh and drink His blood who partake of divine Life. Isn't that a beautiful thought.

The point of Linda's quote in the 3rd Chapter of Galatians is that everyone who does not obey everything in Moses' teachings is cursed. Mrs. Eddy's writings are that we strive to be God like. Isn't this better than the elementary teachings of going to Church and then doing whatever YOU want because you can then go back to Church and drink wine and bread knowing His sacrifice has made you clean?

In Hebrews Chapter 9, they mention how Jesus made the perfect tent not made by human hands (metaphysical), so when they talk about His blood do you think they may be talking about it metaphysically?

Please continue to read your Bibles and as you mature, please feel free to read Mrs. Eddy again.

A. Mouse,

Huh?

I think we were accused again of failing to understand Christian Science and using quotes by Mary Baker Eddy out of context. I think we were also accused of purposefully sinning knowing we can go to church to be absolved of our sins. We were certainly accused of being less mature than those who read Mary Baker Eddy.

Guess I'm like the Curious Case of Benjamin Button in that I was mature in Christian Science for more than 30 years reading Mary Baker Eddy. As the years go by and I read the Bible instead, I'm loosing my maturity.

Funny, that's not how I feel. As I've come to know Jesus Christ through the actual Bible rather than the filtered Bible, I've left behind so much of my desire for sin. I understand that by my love of Jesus, I obey His Commandments not through my will but a inward desire to keep them. Haven't been perfected yet like some, but maybe someday.

Do Go Be Man,

Thanks.

I don't understand a word that Anonymous CSer was talking about. So, for a minute there, I thought there was something totally, inherently and irreversibly stupid about me.

I'm going out on a limb here, but I'm going to guess our Anonymous friend here is totally unfamiliar with or at least very new to Christian Science or Mary Baker Eddy! ...Please, --CS is famous for taking "a line here and there" from both the Bible and Science and Health. It's the modus operandi of CS.

OBVIOUSLY YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN TO ANOTHER CHURCH ALL PASTORS DO THIS.

Moreover, today's "Scientists" are giving in to the convenience of abridged "full-text" and audio Bible lessons in place of reading the Bible and Science and Health.

Though not exactly sanctioned by the Mother Church, many Christian Scientists today rely almost exclusively on the so-called 'Full text' edition of the Weekly Bible lessons. Sales of chalk markers are way down. A few years ago, at a meeting of the largest CS church in my state, one of the senior members stood up and ridiculed the idea of marking books for the Bible lesson, and I was the only one who disagreed with him.

SCIENTISTS READ THEIR BIBLE EVERY DAY WHICH IS MORE THAN I CAN SAY ABOUT 80% OF OTHER CHRISTIANS. MOST SCIENTISTS LIKE MYSELF ALSO SIT DOWN AND READ THE ENTIRE BIBLE WHEN WE HAVE A CHANCE.

Please continue to read your Bibles and as you mature, please feel free to read Mrs. Eddy again.

Your entire anonymous post betrays your own lack of maturity, and I pray that as you spiritually mature, you will grow to embody that fine Christian attribute of humility. In the meantime, you might learn something by reading more of the posts in this forum. Then you might understand the effect of 'reading Mrs. Eddy,' and what this reading has done in the lives of many former Christian Scientists. You may not be so glib and quick to advise others in this potentially fatal direction.

MOST SCIENTISTS ARE EXTREMELY HUMBLE AND I TRY TO BE; EXCEPT WHEN I READ SOME OF THE IMMATURE POSTS HERE. MAY I SUGGEST TO YOU THAT IF YOU BELIEVE YOU HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE, THEN WHAT POTENTIALLY FATAL DIRECTION ARE YOU SPEAKING ABOUT? IF YOU BELIEVE YOU WILL FACE YOUR MAKER, ARE YOU AFRAID TO SAY THAT I RELIED ON OTHER THINGS OTHER THAN GOD BECAUSE I WAS AFRAID TO FOLLOW THE BIBLE?

It is interesting, that the "Founder and Discover" of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, "divinely inspired" by an impersonal but nevertheless(one would assume) a perfect God (in the Metaphysical sense) never envisioned a world whereby Christian Science could be spread by anything other than the spoken word (in person only via lectures, class room instruction, Sunday and Wednesday night readings, etc) or the printed word (via S&H, etc.). Mrs. Eddy, unlike the Triune God, was certainly not all knowing and all seeing.

Accordingly, you can make a strong case that radio, TV, the internet, audio tapes, etc., etc. and etc. are contrary to the provisions laid down in the Manual for informing people about CS. Of course, this is why CS sticks to lectures, reading rooms, etc. which don't work, but still conveniently overlooks the rules that were laid down that really limits the low key promotion of CS to such means.

At the same time, the unaltered scriptures (OT and NT) made no such restrictions. 'Quite a contrast!!!

"Please continue to read your Bibles and as you mature, please feel free to read Mrs. Eddy again."

What a cheeky, sassy, nasty dig that is! Where do these CSers get off calling themselves kind and thoughtful people striving to be Godlike?

Why is it that when CSers are posting on these forums it so strongly feels as if they are not looking to be God like or to spread love, Truth or understanding but are merely trying to get their pent-up, nasty little licks in? I for one am not on this site to be jabbed at, and I do not get my jollies debating with CSers who have allowed themselves to deal with "dissenters" in such nasty ways. We are people who claim to have been injured; we don't need to be prodded and jabbed by hecklers. There is a song that goes "don't shoot the wounded!" And hecklers don't get to decide who is wounded and who is not.

This is not a CS sponsored site that we former CSers are posting our dissension, complaints, injuries and horrible stories on. We are not on a CS site trying to shame, or blame or convince CSers that we have been hurt. If it were a CS sponsored site, I would say we formers were totally out of line by spilling our guts all over the place on their site. But this is clearly a site that is sponsored by an organization called Christian Way for the purpose of helping those who feel they have been hurt by CS (although others are allowed to post as long as their posts are CS related and they are respectful.) The spirit of respect is being stretched here and CSers are taking advantage of patient, well-behaved former CSers and some very precious, severely injured people!!!!!!!!!!

I feel that too often there are people of the CS persuasion who simply love to insidiously insult and annoy us, which is not in anyone's best interests in the name of God and all that is sincere and God like.

Dear anonymous poster,

First of all, There is no need for you to shout here.  We can hear you very well.

My apologies for contributing to some unnecessary rancor.  The rest of my post has been retracted in the spirit of peace and continued good fellowship with all parties....

Oh, this is exhausting. Could we just pray for each other and chill for awhile? This feels adversarial. It seems like it takes away from the spirit of brotherhood and it doesn't do the good that it is supposed to do. It is God's battle, not ours.
