Hi,
I just came upon this site. I was sort of getting into Christian Science but don't like the way they censor their spirituality.com message board. A couple of times my posts are rejected and I feel that it is because my posts contained content that might possibly reflect negatively on CS, although they were just honest questions and I wasn't trying to be negative.
Anyway, my question for you who are disillusioned with Christian Science is, if modern medicine had nothing to offer you, then would you have anything to lose by trying to get healed through Christian Science? Because that is my situation. I don't have anything life threatening, but something very annoying, very frightening, and doctors have told me they have nothing for me. So do you think it is worth it to give the Christian Science methods a shot? Otherwise, I think I just have to give up. Thanks for your feedback.

This is like going to a funeral and asking the grieving family about the local Hospital. If you are interested, go by the local reading room in your town. You may want to call the local Chrisitan Science Church for directions and the times they are open.
Good luck and God Bless,

| Well, thanks. That sure was helpful. What I want to know is, if you had nothing else to try, would you try CS?

Please understand that CS is not a miracle drug. It is a life changing transformation. It starts with you understanding that God is completely in control of your Life. You must read the Bible on a regular basis, but instead of reading it for the effect it has on other people, you must see that the Bible is talking to you directly. God is telling you that he wants you to be the best that you can be. Right now, you have something in your life that is contolling what you do and say. You must correct your thinking and see that you arfe called to be righteous and bring Glory to Him. This is not a one day job. You will have to decide for yourself if you are willing to put yourself completely under God's control and do what he wants you to do. You must realize that whatever problem, sickness or affliction that you have is temporal, the thing that is important is the Truth that it is all about God and striving to do the things that are eternal.
I realize that I just said a mouthful, so please write back with any questions that you have.
God loves YOU.

A doctor once told me that in MBE's day that CS and medicine may have had equal likelihood of healing. He said that CS may have even had an edge over medicine then. He went on to say the age of modern medicine began around World War II with the advent of antibiotics, the widespread practice of hand washing, and several medical breakthroughs resulting from battlefield medical practices.
CS offered hope in an age of primitive medicine. Snake oil, bloodletting, homeopathy, and other practices we now associate with quakery were routine. In such a climate, it is no wonder that CS was popular. Medical practices we now take for granted did not exist or were in their infancy when S&H was first published. Dr. Ignaz Semmelweis made his first observations regarding hand washing around the middle of the 19th century and was ridiculed by his profession. Hand washing is now accepted as the greatest single advance in heathcare. Louis Pasteur performed his first successful rabies treatment in 1885. The work of immunologist Dr. Paul Ehrlich coincided with the rise of CS in the late 1800s and early 20th century. The same year that MBE died, Dr. Josephine Baker began teaching hygiene to New York healthcare providers. The medical profession also rejected her work.
Thus, in MBE's time perhaps the medical profession did have little or nothing to offer. Flu caused deadly pandemics. Amputation was a common treatment for compound fractures. Rabies was universally fatal. Pneumonia, measles, and mumps killed millions. Polio claimed many of my grade school classmates. Leukemia at that ancient time was almost always declared terminal when diagnosed. Smallpox wasn't declared extinct until around the time I graduated high school.

if modern medicine had nothing to offer you, then would you have anything to lose by trying to get healed through Christian Science?
Yes, you would have plenty to lose by turning to CS. Christian Science is more than a healing method. It's a religion, a mindset, and a worldview -- all of which can be harmful to you.
Christian Science leads people away from biblical truth instead of toward it. For examples of this, see the Christian Science and the Bible section of the Christian Way Web site.
CS tends to separate people from their emotions and and humanity as they declare their spiritual perfection and deny the reality and needs of their physical bodies. For books and articles addressing this issue, see the following sections of the Resource List on the Christian Way site: "Case Histories and biographies of former Christian Scientists," "Help for the Hurting," and "General." Also see my personal story on the site.
CS tends to decrease people's ability to understand, empathize with, and meet the needs of the world around them. Christian Scientists tend to be loving and yet insensitive at the same time.
So there's more to CS than healing. I loved CS for 30 years, but I would never go back to it even if medicine gave me no answers. The cost is just too great.

| Oh Linda, don't forget to tell him to buy your book. And if not your book tell him about the many others at this web site who have made money by whining about their poor, poor life and getting a fundamental church to fund them and this site.

As I've said before, I've priced my book on amazon.com so that I don't make any money selling it there. As for the people who post on this site and are part of Christian Way, NONE of us makes any money. We are all volunteers. We donate our time. Thanks for giving me another chance to mention this.

Yes and last time I mentioned this, you and Do Go made a big deal that the Calvary Church in Phoenix does not get any LOVE donations for sponsoring this site. You both seemed so sincere that I thought maybe I was wrong. It now occurs to me that Mike Benjamin is mentioned prominantly at the site, but has never said boo. Has he Do Go Be Man? I always wonder why you reveal so little about yourself. You said to protect relatives. Yet you always seem to have the latest gadgets and are able to pull up Bible verses like Linda. Do Go you are a proven liar and I have no doubt that you are Pastor Mike Benjamin. You are always monitoring the site and always turning sentiment against CS. You say that you agree with many things in CS, but then distort any Biblical arguements that could get you in trouble with your LOVE donators.
How do the rest of you feel being duped at this site? You may have had issues with your being raised in the Church, but most Christians have had problems with their denomination and have gone on to other denominations. This is never encouraged here. What is encouraged is to whine and complain and get others to join in. I can't believe the misinformation that has been spread here. I thought that you all had gone to Sunday Schools that were vastly different from mine. I think most of you have had problems and there are many questions that we can all ask ourselves, but again this happens with everybody who really delves into the Bible. Do any of you know how many Ministers leave their calling, beause of questions and/or prayers that were not answered? Have you ever gone to a funeral and seen your Pastor with no answer for the tough questions? My Lutheran Pastor is a great man, but he would be the first to tell you he does not have all the answers. Yet Scientists are continually asked questions that no one has the answer. Scientists are continually put down, but no one gets upset until I strike back.
If you have left Science and are happy then fine get on with your life, but don't be suprised if you leave, learn more about the Bible and then return. In the meantime, know that God had a plan for you to be in Scinece. Go out and use that knowledge in helping others come to God. Know that you cannot change others and if you have a friend or relative in Science continue to share the Bible with all humility and respect, but don't following the filth and lies that you have learned at this site.
Go in Peace and God Bless,
