Hi Everyone!

Was just wondering if anyone had information about on-line Bible Studies (or off-line ones for that matter). I have recently completed my first one and enjoyed it tremendously. I'm hoping there are others out there. The one I did was by Beth Moore called Believing God. She has at least one more, but I would like to try one by someone else before taking another one by her.

If anyone is interested, I highly recommend Beth Moore's study. You can find it by going to www.believinggod.com. There is a sample study to try which gives a good idea of what the study is like. It is not free -- but I think it is worth every penny and then some. I obviously cannot compare it to other studies, as this was my first. It came recommended by another cway reader (Thank you again, Renee!). The printout homework is a good reference for later and there is a great Bible resource provided which includes a number of different "styles" of Bibles as well as Strong's Concordance, a dictionary and other references.

Anyways, just thought I'd pass it along and thanks for any others you can recommend. -- Grace

Hi Grace,

Here's a few online Bible studies:
http://www.biblekeeper.com/
http://www.e-sword.net/
http://www.fishthe.net/pages/Bible_Study_Tools/

I'm sure there are a bunch more, but these are the ones I've just recently found out about. I think these are all free. One of these days I'll begin to work with 'em!! Thanks for the suggestion of Beth Moore's study.

Grace,

I can recommend studies from Navpress. I've done some of the LifeChange studies and their entire Discipleship study (designed for a year-long study).

Hi LizzieBee, Do_Go and followingHim,

Thank you all for the suggestions. I've been having fun checking them all out. Now to decide which one to get into first! It's nice to have a choice. . . . . .

I'm really having fun exploring the Bible and am especially enjoying all the various formats. There is so MUCH in there and each time I get started on a really interesting part, I hear about some other spot that is really special. I've found a Christian Public Radio station which plays some truly awful music -- unbelieveably bad, I have to admit -- but they also have lots of great little 1/2 hour shows directed by different christian speakers, all of whom are still pretty new to me. I'm enjoying a daily show by Charles (Chuck) Swindoll and another that is particularly helpful for parenting by Focus on the Family. Because they are so Bible focused, there are lots of references to different sections in the Bible worth studying.

They post the daily shows on their website (www.wihsradio.org) and some of them can be downloaded and listened to online if you won't be around to hear them when aired. (or if you live out of range) If you'd like, check it out -- maybe there is something you'd find of interest. The other day there was a show all about the book of Romans and how the study of that book is so important because it is like a step-by-step guide for christian growth. Needless to say, the book of Romans is now on my list -- after some of the studies you all suggested. Thanks so much for sharing!

Grace,

You can listen to Moody Broadcasting Network online. I got a lot from listening to one of their radio stations when I lived in a town where one was located. I listen to Bible Broadcasting Network in the car now since I can't pick up a Moody station.

I also recommend considering Ligonier Ministries which is R.C. Sproul's ministry.

Of course, nothing tops reading the Bible for yourself.

Hi Grace,

Funny you should mention Beth Moore, as our church offered 2 of her bible studies (using video + workbook) this past fall and winter. We were aware of her on-line audience, but only had the 10 of us in a group setting to discuss the study. I especially enjoyed the challenge of committing to attend every Saturday a.m. as it gave me a deadline to have my homework done. And there WAS homework, wasn't there Grace?! We covered both "Believing God" and "Breaking Free".

Another thing we enjoy in common is the Focus on the Family program. Unfortunately, though, the 30 min. radio program is no longer broadcast in our city as there were not enough listeners to make it worthwhile for the radio station, I guess. I miss it greatly. For several years I'd tune in at 7:00 pm every evening for some of the best parenting tips/advice/counsel I've ever had. James Dobson's Focus on the Family ministry has been absolutely invaluable to me as a mother who suddenly had to switch gears to the role of single parent when my kids were age 1 and 6. Now they are 14 and 19. I owe much to Focus on the Family for helping me learn about the reality of such things as A.D.D. and a variety of learning styles in children.

I'd best start a new thread on helpful Christian resources rather than go off the original topic like this! : )

This is likely to stir up a hornet's nest, and I know that Rick Warren has been phenomenally successful as of late, but I urge great caution in getting involved in Purpose-Driven Life--the books, the Bibles studies, everything. It looks very good at first glance, but there are problems as you get into it more deeply. My church adopted the format, and all of a sudden, we were getting superficial "Mac-Sermons," with hardly any depth or edification! within a year, almost half the membership left, including my family. What's worse, these were the most experienced, Biblically literate, seriously tithing, many-hours-per-week workers!

There are so many other good programs and formats out there, I think you would be wise to avoid this one, in spite of the good press* it's been getting.

*secular, Biblically illterate press.

Dear Following Him,

Perhaps your church had below-the-surface issues before the Purpose Driven Life format was implemented. It certainly caused a stir, but may
